Brian Eno reflects on feedback and self-organization in musical composition, influenced by the organization of complex systems in Stafford Beer’s The Brain of the Firm.
Stafford Beer was a member of the cybernetics thread of systems thought (if that sounds baffling, read George Richardson’s excellent book on the evolution of thinking about systems).
@tomfid via @resilienceSci The BBC video on Brian Eno and the Brain of the Firm surfaces the social ties between Stafford Beer, David Whittaker, U2 and Coldplay in a clear and educational way. The second web video on Feedback by Stafford Beer makes the linkages to cybernetics more easily understood by the layman. I’ve never seen Stafford looking so young as in these two videos, because my ties to him are much later in his life.
